Four men who dined on the liver of a murdered sorcerer are being held in Battambang province, officials said Thursday.
Army Captain Som Tout, 33, confessed to killing neighbor and suspected sorcerer Sok Mok, 46, last Friday, said Battambang’s Second Deputy Governor Pa Socheat Vong.
Som Tout suspected the man of killing his two children and older sister “with black magic,” the deputy governor said. Officials say Som Tout then shot his enemy six times in the head and chest with an AK-47 assault rifle.
He then removed the man’s liver, but not before three witnesses arrived at the scene. The three men—Tom Tho, 39, Khim Mao, 30, and Ching, 31—admitted they had suffered under the sorcerer too. The four agreed to eat the man’s liver “with wine,” said Pa Socheat Vong.
Som Tout confessed to family members at the funeral, said Prak Doeun, third deputy governor of Battambang province.
The following day, Som Tout turned himself in to provincial police, who also detained the other three Thursday.
The other three were ldetained Thursday by provincial police.
