Two men who ran a restaurant serving dog meat in Battambang province were shot to death at close range by two robbers on Friday night, police said Sunday.
Soeum Channy, 22, and Koeun Theary, 31, were gunned down inside their restaurant in Mong Russei district’s Kakoh commune, according to commune police chief Kin Saran.
Both men, who lived above the restaurant, were shot several times in the neck, chest and leg. Another victim, Soeum Sophal, 25, the sister of Soeum Channy, sustained a serious gunshot wound to her stomach.
Mr. Saran said that two men on a motorbike armed with an AK-47 and a pistol arrived at the victims’ home at around 9:30 p.m. as they were closing their restaurant.
The suspects opened fire after the victims refused to turn over their day’s earnings, he said. “The thieves entered their house pointing the guns at them and asked for money,” Mr. Saran said.
Mong Russei district police chief Kith Theng said the thieves escaped with about $75 and police are searching for them.
