Rob Hamill: Khmer Rouge genocide suspect let my brother die

The brother of a New Zealander killed in Cambodia says a Khmer Rouge veteran facing court this week is the person “most culpable” for the crime.

Kerry Hamill, brother of Olympic rower Rob Hamill, was seized from a boat off Cambodia in 1978, detained at Phnom Penh’s Tuol Sleng prison and executed.

A war crimes tribunal in Phnom Penh is hearing appeals in the case of Meas Muth, 81, who was accused of causing at least 7400 deaths during the Khmer Rouge’s rule.
