Five men arrested after a car crash that killed two military police officers on Sunday will be sent to the Mondolkiri Provincial Court today for questioning over allegations of premeditated killing, officials said Tuesday.
Provincial military police officers Ork Chetra, 25, and Chea Samnang, 20, died when a Lexus SUV rear-ended their motorbike at about 1:45 a.m. in Sen Monorom City.
Vong Rachana, chief of the provincial military police crime investigation office, said Tuesday that all five suspects involved in the accident were being detained at provincial military police headquarters ahead of today’s questioning.
“All of them were accused of premeditated killing,” he said.
“They are all young guys and have short thinking. It was just a small argument after a drink in a karaoke parlor but they killed each other.”
Police said that before the accident, the victims and the suspects had a fight in a karaoke bar over a woman.
The fight led to a car chase that resulted in the fatal crash, police said.
“Some of the five detainees confessed that they chased to crash and kill the victims,” provincial military police commander Sak Sarang said on Monday.
“All of them are young guys and they always go out for a night of drinks and cause arguments.”
