Police Searching for Nurse Accused of Rape

Police in Kratie are searching for a nurse who allegedly raped the wife of his patient at the provincial referral hospital on Saturday, officials said Sunday.

Huot Lim Heang, chief of the provincial police’s serious crime bureau, identified the suspect as Heng Meng Leang, 28.

“Our police official received a complaint from the victim that accused Mr. Heng Meng Leang of raping her, ” he said. “After he raped her, the suspect climbed out a window and fled.”

Mr. Lim Heang said the nurse lured the 27-year-old woman into his office by telling her that he wanted to see whether her blood type matched that of her husband, who was receiving treatment at the hospital in Kratie City for an ulcer on his leg.

“The suspect [then] ordered her to remove her clothes for an examination and then he raped her.”

Deputy Kratie City police chief Seang Sopheak, who received the victim’s complaint, said a used condom was found in the nurse’s office.

“We do not know where he went,” Mr. Sopheak said.

“We are still investigating so that we can arrest him.”
