Police Make 3rd Arrest In ‘Sorcerer’ Slaying

A third man has been arrested over the beheading of a traditional healer in Kompong Speu province over the weekend after a bloody T-shirt found near the crime scene was linked to him by another suspect, police said Tuesday.

On Monday, police said they had detained two men for questioning over the murder of Pak Sophea, 53, whose battered and headless body was found on a roadside in Thpong district on Saturday.

On the same day, investigators said that about 30 meters from the crime scene, they found two bloody T-shirts, which the detained men said belonged to two others.

“Last night [Monday], we arrested a third suspect who was hiding in a rented room in Phnom Penh,” said Sam Sak, chief of the Kompong Speu provincial police’s serious crimes bureau.

“One of the two men questioned at the provincial police station led police to arrest the third suspect,” he said.

“One of the T-shirts that we found belongs to him.”

Mr. Sam refused to identify the three suspects in police custody.
