Police in Kompong Thom province are searching for a 16-year-old boy suspected of raping a 3-year-old girl in Kompong Svay district on Tuesday morning, said Leang Kel, deputy police chief of Kdei Daung commune.
The suspect, a neighbor of the victim, allegedly lured the girl inside his house to rape her, Mr Kel said Thursday, adding that the victim’s mother filed a complaint with police. However, before police could investigate, the suspect’s sister told the 16-year-old that the police were coming.
“The sister of the suspect informed the suspect that police will come to arrest him, so the suspect fled before police arrive at the house,” he said.
“People nowadays are difficult to control; they do everything without respect for the law,” Mr Kel said, adding that the police are searching for the suspect and hoping to make an arrest.
