Police File Complaint Over Hit-and-Run Investigation

Police said they on Monday filed a complaint to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court over a fatal hit-and-run last week that involved a Defense Ministry vehicle.

“We do not yet know the identity of the car’s driver but we believe the driver was someone working in the Ministry of Defense,” said Seng Chanthorn, deputy Phnom Penh Traffic Police chief.

Khiem Neary, 41, and Sean Veasna, 23, were killed when a Toyota Tundra slammed into two motorbikes.

A third person, Nguon Ousa, 26, is being treated at Calmette Hospital.

Defense Ministry spokesman General Chhum Socheat said the driver, who escaped the scene on foot, has not been identified.

“We will hold a meeting tomorrow and identify those involved,” he said.
