Police in Kompong Thom province arrested two young men on Sunday for the murder of a farmer in Preah Vihear province who was found with a fatal wound to the neck the day before, officials said Monday.
Ou Odom and Thon Borey, both 19, were arrested at the home of Mr. Odom’s relatives in Kompong Thom’s Baray district after his father—the victim’s god-brother—informed police of their whereabouts, according to Say Det, police chief in Preah Vihear’s Rovieng district.
Mr. Det said the suspects hacked Oeun On to death in his district after the 40-year-old farmer chided them on Saturday afternoon for using a motorbike he had been watching over.
That night, the victims followed Oeun On home and hacked him in the neck.
“It was very brutal,” Mr. Det said.
“We do not know what kind of weapon the suspects used yet. It might have been a machete, ax or something else, but most likely a machete.”
