City Hall met with urban planning experts and officials from relevant ministries Tuedsay to discuss building a new overpass on Russian Boulevard, near the Institute of Technology, and extending the existing paved walkway along Phnom Penh’s riverside to Koh Pich bridge, according to Chrean Sophann, deputy municipal governor.
Mr. Sophann said City Hall was considering two options to ease congestion on Russian Boulevard, both of which would require the construction of a new overpass, but said that neither would affect the homes of people living nearby.
City Hall spokesman Long Dimanche said a number of development projects were discussed, but the Russian Boulevard overpass was the top priority.
“We are filing the document and will submit it to the governor [Pa Socheatvong] before submitting it to Samdech Techo Hun Sen,” Mr. Dimanche said.
Asked when construction will begin, or which company will be contracted to build the overpass, Mr. Dimanche said he did not know.
