One Charged Over Deadly Robbery of Wing Owner

A 30-year-old man was charged by Pursat Provincial Court On Thursday in connection with a deadly armed robbery earlier this month, an official said On Thursday. Khan Chanthim, 31, who operated a Wing mobile payment kiosk out of her home in Phnom Kravanh district’s Phteah Rong commune, was shot dead by four masked gunmen on December 13.

The intruders, armed with AK-47 assault rifles, made off with three damlung’s worth of gold jewelry and about $7,000 in cash, according to Soeung Sopheak, chief of the provincial police’s penal bureau.

On Thursday, one of the suspects, Ouch Bunleng, was charged with armed robbery at the provincial court after being arrested on Friday while attempting to flee to Thailand via Banteay Meanchey province.

“Now, we are working to arrest other suspects whose identity we know after questioning the suspect in cooperation with military police in Poipet City,” he said, adding that Mr. Bunleng suspect was placed in provisional detention at the Pursat Provincial Prison at 11 a.m. On Thursday after being charged.
