Official Killed, Teen Suspected

Police in Stong district, Kompong Thom province are seeking a teen-ager accused of killing a district police officer for his motorbike April 11.

Ey Chnoen, 18, is accused of stabbing Koug Choeun, 38, five times before fleeing into the forest without the moto after he realized he had been seen by villagers, Stong district Military Police Chief Koul Thoeun said Thursday.

Ey Chnoen first asked the victim’s son, a moto taxi driver, for a ride to Stong district from Koug Choeun’s home area of Svay Nikom district, Siem Reap province, police said. The son suggested Ey Chnoen hire his father, police said. Ey Chnoen offered Koug Choeun 30,000 riel (about $7.50) and the two left on Koug Choeun’s Dream 95 moto.

Near Ey Chnoen’s destination, he allegedly stabbed Koug Choeun twice in the neck, twice in the chest and once in the hand.
