Officer Killed After Argument

A military intelligence officer was killed and his brother injured after they were shot Sunday night following an argument with two military policemen in Phnom Penh’s Daun Penh district, according to Sras Chak commune chief Chhay Thirith.

Khin Dara, 30, was shot in the head and in his right leg and died immediately. Khin Sam On, 27, was shot once in the right leg and treated at Calmette Hospital.

According to Chhay Thirith, witnesses said Khin Dara and Khin Sam On’s car collided with the military policemen’s motorbike. Khin Dara, who appeared drunk, hit a military policeman on the head with a liquor bottle, Chhay Thirith said. This prompted the military policeman to fire his AK-47.

That military policeman has been arrested and is being held at municipal military police headquarters, said municipal military police chief Vong Pisen.

Vong Pisen said this was a personal dispute, not a problem between military police. The case will be sent to court, he said.
