Suy Sem officially became the new minister of industry, mines and energy on Thursday, replacing Pou Sothirak.
The former secretary of state for the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, Suy Sem was sworn in as industry minister in a ceremony attended by Sok An, minister for the Council of Ministers.
During the ceremony, Pou Sothirak spoke on the achievements of his term in the ministry, listing efforts in privatizing state industries and development in garment manufacturing.
Pou Sothirak lost his seat in the National Assembly in July when his Funcinpec splinter party, Reastr Niyum, received only a tiny portion of votes.
Earlier this week Pou Sothirak said he plans to take a short holiday, and that any future plans for him depend on the newly formed government.
