The wedding of tycoon Kith Meng, chairman of local conglomerate the Royal Group, to the mother of his four children, singer Mao Chamnan, saw more than 5,000 guests invited to the two-day ceremony in Phnom Penh on Thursday and Friday.

Prime Minister Hun Sen and his wife, Bun Rany, were among those in attendance, along with Deputy Prime Minister Sok An, National Assembly President Heng Samrin, and tycoon Ly Yong Phat.

The first part of the ceremony took place at the couple’s home, before a reception Friday at six separate buildings on Koh Pich island, according to Huy Vannak, deputy director-general of CNC television station, which is owned by the groom.

A post on the Facebook page of Phnom Penh Municipal Military Police commander Roth Srieng showed strengthened security on Koh Pich for the occasion, with body scanning machines installed at the reception venues.
