A military captain shot dead his pregnant wife and then turned the gun on himself following an argument in a beauty salon in Daun Penh district on Thursday afternoon, according to police. Eng Sorphea, chief of the municipal police serious crime bureau, said the incident happened around 4:40 p.m. in Golden Sorya Mall.
“I just know that before the event of shooting, they had argument with each other,” he said of the couple.
A statement on the National Police website named the shooter as 30-year-old Loch Vanna, who served as a military police officer at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia, and the pregnant victim as 22-year-old beauty salon worker Tok Pheng, also known as Srey Lin, from Kampong Thom province.
“The cases have been ended because the offender killed himself upon shooting the victim, and there is no other person connected to this case,” said deputy municipal police chief Chuon Narin.
“We just established the case documents to keep on file.”
