An unidentified man died Tuesday after he fell off the top of a Phnom Penh-bound passenger train in Kandal province and was decapitated.
The incident occurred around 9:30 am in Ang Snuol district as the train, which had left Battambang province that morning for the capital, rolled through Kandal province.
According to published reports in Khmer newspapers, the man fell off the train and under its wheels.
The train cut off his hands and head, and kept rolling. Villagers reportedly collected the man’s body and were keeping it.
The victim, who appeared to be in his 20s, remained unidentified Wednesday afternoon.
Kandal province Deputy Chief Tom Vay said his officers were investigating the death, but were having trouble contacting railway officials because of the Water Festival.
