Man Killed in Crash After Leaving Wedding Party

One man is dead and eight others injured after a truck carrying partygoers home from a wedding collided with a car on National Road 4 in Kompong Speu province Thursday night, police said Friday.

Meach Samoeun, a deputy police chief in Kompong Speu, said that 21-year-old Hong Neang was killed when the flatbed truck he was traveling in overturned in Samroang Tong district’s Trapaing Kong commune at about 6:30 p.m. after it was struck by a car traveling in the opposite direction.

Mr. Neang was traveling with mostly family to their home in Kandal province’s Takhmao City, police said. Mr. Samoeun said that police were yet to establish who was at fault or make any arrests.

“The other car drove away to escape,” he said. “Our officers are now investigating in detail.”

The deputy police chief said that one survivor was “seriously injured,” and that seven others sustained mostly minor injuries.

All eight were checked in for treatment at a health center near the crash site, he said.
