Man Flees After Allegedly Beating, Raping Ex-Girlfriend

Kompong Cham provincial police are seeking to arrest a 34-year-old man for assault after a woman working at a karaoke parlor filed a complaint accusing him of badly beating her and forcing her to have sex.

Provincial police chief Pen Rath said Choeun Heng is accused of assaulting the woman, 28, last Wednesday at her workplace in Kompong Cham City.

“We are looking for this perpetrator, but now he is at large,” he said.

“We know his identity and will make a report to the court.” In a video interview with local news website Deum Ampil, the woman accuses Mr. Heng, her former boyfriend, of beating her after she declined to entertain him and his friends at the club.

“Since I wanted to go out [of the room], I kept saying it; he hit me until I looked like this,” she says in the video clip. “He used his hands and feet to hit and kick my face and head.

Now my head is all swollen.” In a copy of the complaint posted by local news organization Fresh News, she also accuses Mr. Heng of dragging her into a car and raping her.
