Man Dies in Car Crash

A 30-year-old man died on Saturday when he crashed his car into a fence in Russei Keo district, Chroy Changva commune, Phnom Penh, according to deputy city traffic police chief Sang An.

The man, Sorn Socheat, who was the architect of one of the Sokha Hotels, was driving around a curve at around 11 pm when he crashed into the stone fence at the house of former municipal police chief Suon Chheangly.

Deputy traffic department police chief Pen Khun said Mr Socheat drank wine before the accident, but he doesn’t know how much the victim drank, or who he was drinking with. A 4 meter wide section of the fence was damaged, but the home owner has not yet filed charges, according to Mr An.

When they (the homeowners) finish fixing the fence they will bring the receipt expenses to us, and we will call both sides to negotiate the compensation,” Mr An said.
