Maid Injured in Robbery at Diplomat’s Home

Police are searching for two men who injured a maid during a daytime break-in at the home of a  Brunei Embassy diplomat in Phnom Penh.

Khuon Sophon, municipal penal police chief, confirmed Monday that the home of the Brunei embassy’s first secretary in Chamkar Mon district was raided Saturday afternoon by two armed men who stole valuables worth about $1,000.

Teap Kum, Chamkar Mon deputy district police chief, said Monday that a maid working in the diplomat’s house sustained a knife wound to her forehead when she encountered the in­truders.

According to Khuon Sophon, police have not identified any suspects yet. Municipal Police Chief Sourn Chheangly said Monday that crime overall is decreasing in the city. However, there has been a spate of daring crimes by young people on drugs, he said.
