“Lost Loves” Takes Top Awards at Film Fest

Director Chhay Bora’s feature film “Lost Loves” swept the Cambodia National Film Festival awards in Phnom Penh last night, winning six prizes: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Writer, Best Lead Actress, Best Editor and Best Set Design.

The 110-minute tale of love and survival under the Khmer Rouge, which was released in 2010, triumphed over the Khmer Mekong Films-produced “Vanished” for Best Picture. Mr. Bora’s wife Kauv Sotheary picked up two statuettes as writer and lead actress.

“I appreciate that the jury judged fairly and I’m also excited because I’ve done it for many years,” Mr. Bora said.

The awards were presented at Chaktomuk Theater as part of the Cambodia International Film Festival’s closing ceremony, which also featured music by the Khmer Magic Music Bus and the Community of Living Chapei.
