Peter Leuprecht, the special representative of the UN Secretary-General for Human Rights in Cambodia, will visit in early March, according to Margo Picken, country director of the Office of the UN High Commission for Human Rights.
Leuprecht issued a report Monday on violence related to the upcoming commune elections and plans to issue two more reports before his next visit, Picken said.
Leuprecht has said that his meetings with government officials last November were “fruitful.” Shortly after Leuprecht left, Prime Minister Hun Sen called him “stupid” for remarks he made to a UN General Assembly committee concerning a group of Cambodians who had been resettled on heavily mined land near Poipet.
