Legal Reform Highlighted

Investment laws, legal research and environmental protection are among the topics being ad­dressed during a conference on legal and judicial reform this week at the Council for the Dev­elopment of Cambodia.

The three-day conference, organized by the CDC and the government, started Mon­day and has scheduled presentations by representatives from several ministries, in­cluding Justice, Com­merce and Finance, as well as in­ternational NGOs.

Speakers scheduled for today include Justice Minister Chem Snguon, on judicial training and court reform; and Council of Min­isters Secretary of State Sum Ma­n­ith, on access to in­formation on laws and regulations.

Paul Matthews, resident representative of the UN Development Program, will chair a Wednesday discussion on tourism promotion and environmental protection.
