Large Turnout for Third Phnom Penh Duathlon

Nearly 1,000 people took part in the 2014 Samdech Techo Hun Sen Cup duathlon to celebrate International Children’s Day in Phnom Penh on Sunday.

The competition was the third duathlon held in Phnom Penh, but the first named after the prime minister.

An endurance competition which requires running then cycling followed by a final stint of running, the duathlon was divided into three categories including under-18, 18-to-40 and over-40.

Heng Siv Lang, 33, who won the 18-to-40 category was taking part for the third year in a row.

“I’m very happy to see many people interested in this tournament because it’s a new kind of sport,” she said.
