Korean Suspect in ATM Fraud Caught in Cambodia

A South Korean man who flew to Cambodia after allegedly using fake ATM cards to steal more than $100,000 from ATMs in South Korea was arrested yesterday morning in Kompong Cham City, local police said.

Lee Inyong, 36, was arrested with his wife and another Korean man at the Monorom VIP hotel, according to provincial police chief Ben Rath.

All three were sent to the Ministry of Interior on Thursday afternoon. Local police worked with South Korean police and the Ministry of Interior to catch the suspect, Mr. Rath said, adding that the other two arrested people are not believed to have participated in the ATM thefts.

“The ringleader will be sent to his country tonight to be charged,” said Mr. Rath. “I do not know if the rest will be questioned or not, because they are not related to the crime.”
