Korean Guide Charged Over Child Abuse, Porn

The Siem Reap Provincial Court on Thursday charged a South Korean tour guide with purchasing child prostitution and producing child pornography following his arrest in Siem Reap City on Wednesday, police said.

Shin Jang-eun, 43, a tour guide at the Angkor Archaeological Park, was arrested at about 10:30 a.m. at his apartment in the city’s Svay Dangkum commune, where police also confiscated a laptop and tablet computer, according to Chea Heng, deputy chief of the provincial anti-human trafficking police.

“We found lots of child pornography on his iPad,” said Mr. Heng, adding that the images were of a 10-year-old girl the man photographed nude in Sihanoukville last year.

Mr. Heng said police also suspected that Mr. Jang-eun had sex with three girls between the ages of 14 and 16 after giving their families money and promising to wed them when they turned 18.

“The suspect was engaged to each of the girls, then gave them up and looked for other girls,” he said.

“Investigating Judge Pich Sokrin and deputy prosecutor Choun Sopanha charged him today with purchasing child prostitution and producing child pornography,” said provincial anti-human trafficking police chief Duong Thavary.
