Kompong Cham Official Arrested Over Drug Paraphernalia

A Kompong Cham provincial police official was arrested after authorities found drug paraphernalia in his house, officials said Thursday.

Tith Seiha, deputy chief of the provincial public order office was arrested on Wednesday morning, said San Sothea, provincial bureau police chief for serious crime.

Authorities investigated Mr. Seiha after seeing groups of people going in and out of his home for several months.

“We did not find evidence to prove that Mr. Tith Seiha is the drug dealer,” Mr. Sothea said. “[But] we found some materials for using drugs.”

Mr. Seiha tested positive for narcotic substances and authorities also found a homemade handgun in his home, he added.

“We are now questioning him to collect evidence to put burden on him before sending him to court tomorrow,” Mr. Sothea said.

Am Sam Ath, technical supervisor at Lichado, said he hoped Mr. Seiha would be punished according if found guilty.

“I think that the wrong actions of Mr. Tith Seiha could affect the reputation of police officials because he is supposed to be an implementer of the law,” he said.
