King Honors Gov’t Officials

Forty-four government officials have received honors from King Noro­dom Sihanouk for service in the 1993-1998 administration.

At the behest of the Council of Ministers, the Aug 6 royal decree awarded five different categories of national medals to ministers and secretaries of state serving in the current government.

Second Prime Minister Hun Sen led the list as the only of­ficial granted the highest honor of “Moha Sirivath of the Kingdom  of Cambodia.” First Prime Mi­nister Ung Huot and Deputy Prime Ministers Sar Kheng and Ing Kieth were given the second highest honor of “Moha Sena.”

Ministers of State Keat Chhon, Ung Phan, Van Molyvann and Chem Sngoun received the third-ranking “Thep Din” medal, with remaining ministers receiving the “Sena” medal. Eighteen secretaries of state got the “Asrith” me-dal. Deposed first prime minister Prince Norodom Ranariddh and Interior Mi­nistry secretary of state Ho Sok, who was executed July 7, did not make the list.
