Khmer Web Settles Dispute

Khmer Web on Tuesday agreed to repay CamNet $2,500, after a CamNet user accused the Internet cafe of using at least 500 hours on his account during the last two months.

Koy Kim Sea, undersecretary of state for the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and general manager of CamNet, said the deal came after a four-hour meeting with ministry officials, Khmer Web owners and Bill Herod, who lodged the complaint. “Such a crime is very easy to do,” Koy Kim Sea said, “but we will not allow it to happen anymore.”

But Khmer Web owners denied the theft, instead blaming customers for using the account of Herod, an adviser to an Internet service where some Khmer Web owners once worked.

Koy Kim Sea said the ministry soon will issue a regulation prohibiting Internet cafes from allowing customers to use outside accounts.
