A special program of reduced-rate classic French movies dubbed in Khmer will be shown during December, thanks to the French Cultural Center.
Officials noticed that every time they show a French film dubbed in Khmer at the Center’s small theater, it draws large crowds. So they decided to move a selection of popular movies to a larger venue.
Beginning Friday, a $1 ticket will allow moviegoers to see three movies at the Vimean Tip theater located on Monivong Boulevard near its intersection with Street 232.
The films are “La Grand Vadrouille,” “Le Pari,” “La Belle et La Bete,” “Le Roy et L’Oiseau,” and “Princes et Princesses.” They will run through Dec 14 with showings from 9 am to 7 pm.
The Vimean Tip is the largest cinema in Phnom Penh. “We chose a big place because we want to encourage more viewers and Khmer filmmakers,” said Kor Borin, assistant to the director of cultural affairs for the French Cultural Center.
