A Kampot province man was sent to provincial court Monday after being accused of killing his neighbor for stealing a jackfruit from his property.
Pol Sa Reth, 25, of Kampot district, was identified as the killer by his fellow villagers, said Kampot provincial police penal chief Eng Ge Va. “This is a very cruel killing. For just one jackfruit he killed a person,” Eng Ge Va said.
Loup Nhor, 45, was found by villagers Sunday morning on Pol Sa Reth’s property with an ax in his head and a jackfruit next to his body, Eng Ge Va said. Villagers told police that Loup Nhor had become drunk the night before and gone to Pol Sa Reth’s jackfruit plantation to steal fruit.
Loup Nhor had not had trouble with the law, Eng Ge Va said. Pol Sa Reth has not admitted to the crime, according to Eng Ge Va.
