Judicial Officials to Access Chinese Schools

A deal signed Thursday with the China Law Society will give Justice Ministry officials access to scholarships at Chinese universities and see Beijing fund the construction of a legal research center in Cambodia, ministry spokesman Chin Malin said.

At the Justice Ministry, minister Ang Vong Vathana and Zhang Wenxian, vice president of the China Law Society, signed the memorandum of understanding, which outlines a number of cooperation plans between Phnom Penh and Beijing, including grants for short-term courses, as well as master’s and doctoral degree programs at select Chinese law schools for Cambodian judicial officials and study exchange programs between the two nations.

“And the third purpose is that in the future we will establish a Cambodia-China-Asean Legal Research Center in Cambodia with China to fund the establishment of this center,” Mr. Malin said, adding he did not know where the center would be built or how much it would cost.
