Israel Pitches In Relief Effort for Flood Victims

Israel is the latest nation to provide flood aid to Cambodia.

Ophir Kariv, charge d’affaires for the Israeli Embassy in Thai­land, is flying into Phnom Penh this morning with a shipment of food, medical supplies and other material.

Britain announced Monday it would provide $900,000 to Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos in addition to last week’s donations of $375,000 for Cambodia and $225,000 for Vietnam.

South Korea is donating $20,000.

HEKS Interchurch Aid, a Swiss NGO, will distribute rice this morning in Takeo province.

The water level in Phnom Penh remained unchanged at 11.14 meters, but it dropped another 0.38 meters upriver in Stung Treng, according to officials.
