A district information official in Banteay Meanchey province was shot to death in front of his home because of a personal dispute, Rath Srieng, the provincial military police chief, said.
Monday’s shooting wasn’t the first time victim Chey Samnang’s life was in danger. In February, an unidentified man wounded Chey Samnang, an official at the Information Department of Malai district, Rath Srieng said.
In the second shooting, two armed gunmen waited near his home in Serei Saophoan district and opened fired. Police are blaming the killing on a personal dispute. “It was not politically motivated at all,” Rath Srieng said.
No one was in custody late Wednesday afternoon.
