ICE told him to come on Thursday. He brought 20 others along.

Deep inside the labyrinth of a suburban office park, Steven Dy held a megaphone up to his mouth outside an Immigration and Customs Enforcement office Thursday morning. His hands were shaking.

“Today, on October 3, [people] all over the country are being asked to come check in early and be put into deportation proceedings,” said Dy, organizing director of the Providence Youth Student Movement. “We at PrYSM denounce these deportations. These are violations of our human rights, and we are committed to fighting against the deportation machine and making sure our families stay together.”

Dy turned to a man standing stoically in a blue Patriots shirt and let out a sigh before continuing.
