Hun Sen Holds Meeting Amid Rumors of Ill Health

Prime Minister Hun Sen on Monday met with former Singaporean Foreign Minister George Yong Boon Yeo at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh, with photos of the meeting on a local news website quelling rumors that Mr. Hun Sen had suffered a massive stroke.

Mr. Yeo, who is now chairman of the Hong Kong-based company Kerry Logistics, is seeking the prime minister’s support to launch his company in Cambodia and drum up investment, according to Mr. Hun Sen’s personal assistant, Eang Sophalleth.

“It is his third visit since 1999 and he said Cambodia has developed a lot since then,” he said.

Further scotching the rumors over his health, Mr. Hun Sen is apparently fit to travel and will lead a high-level delegation to Bangladesh for a two-day official visit on Monday, according to a statement issued Monday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
