A grenade attack earlier this week has left one woman in serious condition in a Thai hospital, Poipet officials said.
Duch Srey Mon, 34, who lived in a shack in a squatter camp in Poipet, was recovering from her injuries in a Thai hospital after a grenade was rolled under her O’Chrou district house, O’Chrou District Governor Sar Chumrong said. Police believe Duch Srey Mon may have been an innocent victim caught in a drunken dispute, Sar Chumrong said.
The squatter village has been the scene of major public disruptions, the governor said. “Those people live in the squatter camp with bad people; there is a lot of anarchy and drug use. It is too hard to control,” he said.
Authorities have identified a potential suspect, but the investigation is on hold until Duch Srey Mon is released from the hospital and police interview her, Sar Chumrong said.
