Four men, including an uncle who allegedly raped his niece, were arrested as suspects in three separate rape cases Monday and Sunday, officials said.
Nann Vy, 38, of Kompong Chhnang province, is accused of repeatedly raping his 10-year-old niece, according to Samakki Meanchey district’s deputy police chief Duong Dy.
“The suspect raped his victim five times and the last time was [last] Tuesday about 500 meters away from the village in the forest,” Mr. Dy said.
Mr. Vy kept his niece quiet with promises of cash, according to Mr. Dy, but was reported to police after the family found out because the girl was in so much pain.
Mr. Vy has confessed to the rapes, according to police, and is detained at the provincial police station awaiting trial.
