Former Lismore teacher Garry Mulroy home after Cambodian prison ordeal

A former school teacher from Lismore says he was the victim of an extortion racket after serving time in a Cambodian jail charged with indecently assaulting boys.

Garry Mulroy, 64, landed in Sydney on Monday after spending 461 days in prison in Siem Reap province in Cambodia’s north-west.

“When we landed in Sydney I just sat in the plane and it was very hard to actually get out of the seat and realise that the danger was over,” he said.
