Foreign Minister’s Son to Step Down as UK Envoy

Hor Nambora, the son of Foreign Minister Hor Namhong, will step down as Cambodia’s ambassador to Britain, according to an official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Cheung Buntheng, undersecretary of state at the Foreign Affairs Ministry, said Tuesday that Meas Kimheng, an adviser to Mr. Namhong who was previously Cambodia’s ambassador to Australia, would replace Mr. Nambora in London.

Mr. Buntheng said that Mr. Nambora’s return from his diplomatic mission to the U.K. will be made official once King Norodom Sihamoni signs a Royal Decree in the coming days.

“The King has not signed [the decree] yet. His Majesty has been busy with the Water Festival,” Mr. Buntheng said.

“He [Mr. Kimheng] will replace Hor Nambora only when he comes back from England,” he added.

On his Facebook page, Mr. Nambora also posted photos of himself bidding farewell in London to government officials from Ethiopia, where he also served as Cambodia’s ambassador.

“Yes it is true…but I don’t know in which direction I am moving on after the end of my diplomatic mission in London and Africa,” Mr. Nambora wrote in a post on his Facebook page.

“A gentleman Ambassador and devotion to duties…. Mission well accomplished!” Mr. Nambora wrote in another post, referring to himself.
