The Cambodian national football team was humiliated in the first round of the Tiger Cup as they were beaten by Vietnam 9-2 in play in Jakarta on Sunday. The trouncing made Vietnam the first team in the tournament’s history to tally nine goals.
Cambodian captain Hok Sochetra scored in the first half, and the rebound from another of his shots was struck in by Ung Kanyanith in the second. But any hopes for Cambodia were swept aside in the 39th minute as Cambodian defender Peas Sothy was sent off for an aggressive challenge.
“There was no organization in my team tonight. I am very disappointed,” Cambodian coach Jaochim Fickert was quoted as saying Sunday on the Tiger Cup’s Web site.
