Father Kills Son in Dispute Over Intoxication

A man remains at large after stabbing his son to death in Pursat province’s Krakor district on Saturday during an argument that began when the younger man returned home drunk, according to authorities.

Lanh Sithun, chief of Ansar Chambak commune, where the family lives, named the father as Prak Chea, 56, and his son as Chin Sophy, 22.

According to commune police chief Chhim Leung, the father stabbed his son with a paring knife five times behind their house at about 1 p.m. Chin Sophy drew his father’s ire when he returned home from a friend’s house, where he had been drinking wine, he said.

“They had a fight with each other behind the house and the father took a small knife and then they wrestled with each other and fell into a pond,” Mr. Leung said.

“The father stabbed the son until he was dead in the pond.”

Afterward, Mr. Chea walked into the house and told his wife what he had done, then rode away on a bicycle, he said.

The wife called police and a team of officers was dispatched to search the area, but they have yet to arrest the suspect, he added.
