Farmer Kills Man With Sword Over Alleged Affair

Police arrested a farmer in Kampot province whom they suspect of murdering his neighbor and injuring the man’s 15-year-old daughter with a samurai-style sword on Thursday because he thought the neighbor had been having an affair with his wife, police said.

Tek Heang, 43, was apprehended at the home of the victim, Horng Son, 61, in Kompong Tralach district’s Boeng Sala Khang Tbong commune at about 7 a.m. on Thursday after villagers heard shouting and went to the house, said Kong Sakhorn, chief of the provincial police’s penal bureau.

They managed to stop Mr. Heang from killing the victim’s daughter, but Mr. Heang had slashed Horng Son three times in the head by then, killing him.

“The suspect confessed that he wanted to take revenge on the victim because he suspected that his wife had a relationship with the victim,” said Mr. Sakhorn, adding that Mr. Heang would be sent to the provincial court on Saturday.

The victim’s daughter was slashed in the back of the neck and was sent to a hospital in Vietnam on Thursday for emergency care.
