The Siem Reap Provincial Court on Thursday charged a 76-year-old British man for sexually abusing three boys in Siem Reap City, a police official said yesterday.
Chea Heng, deputy chief of the provincial police’s anti-human trafficking bureau, said Roy Sheppard admitted to abusing the boys—two 13-year-olds and one 15-year-old—after their parents filed complaints with police on Tuesday.
“[Mr. Sheppard] went to visit Preah Ang Chek Preah Ang Chorm shrine and met the children there,” Mr. Heng said.
“He was involved with three boys who he took to his apartment to take a bath and then he sexually abused them,” he said.
The retiree abused the boys, who are from poor families, on more than one occasion each last month and paid them between $3 and $10 each time, Mr. Heng said.
After questioning at the provincial court on Thursday, Mr. Sheppard was charged with committing an indecent act against a minor and sent to the provincial prison to await trial, Mr. Heng said.
