Driver Steals Truckload Of Adidas Sportswear

A driver hired to transport a truckload of Adidas sportswear from Koh Kong province to Phnom Penh on Tuesday stole the apparel and is still at large, police said.

Police began a search for Soung Chandara, 22, and 268 boxes of Adidas goods after Prum Rong, who had hired Mr. Chandara, reported it missing.

On Tuesday afternoon, the truck was found in Phnom Penh’s Pur Senchey district, but the Adidas gear was missing.

“Our police cooperated with the owner of the truck to open the back door of the truck, but when it was opened nothing was inside,” said Phan Kea, Samraong Krom commune police chief.

Mr. Rong had a contract with KKN garment factory in Koh Kong to take the goods to Damco dry port in Pur Senchey’s Trapaing Krasaing commune.

Mr. Rong told police that he was in contact with Mr. Chandara as he made his way north along National Road 4, but that he became suspicious and notified police after Mr. Chandara’s phone was switched off.
