Downtown Car Crash Kills Two, Injures Four

Two people were killed and four were seriously injured Mon­day afternoon when the driver of a blue Toyota Camry lost control of the car and drove into a crowd near the Cambodiana Hotel, ac­cording to Bith Kim Hong, de­pu­ty chief of the municipal security police. 

The victims were sitting on the grass near Sothearos Boulevard when the car plowed into the crowd at about 5:30 pm, police said. The driver, a woman, ran away after the accident, witnesses said.

One boy died at the scene of the accident, police said. His name was not available Monday. The second victim, 14-year-old Kim Chantha, a ninth-grade student at Tuol Tumpong High School, died at Calmette Hospital, police said.

A witness said the accident might have been caused by a blown tire.
