As of Sept 23, Cambodia reported a total 6,503 infections from the Delta Variant of SARS CoV-2, compared to 5,751 infections as of Sept 19.
Reports in Khmer Times said Phnom Penh was still recording the most number of infections followed by Siem Reap and seven provinces bordering Thailand.
The first case of Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 was detected on March 31 and since then, the infection rate has surged, especially in past weeks even as vaccination numbers have reached herd immunity levels across the board.
