Danger alert for Cambodian opposition head

Cambodia's main opposition leader Kem Sokha is "in danger of death" at the hands of Prime Minister Hun Sen, Sokha's predecessor Sam Rainsy has warned.

Cambodia’s former main opposition leader, Sam Rainsy, says his successor, who is under de facto house arrest on treason charges, is “in danger of death” at the hands of Prime Minister Hun Sen.

If the premier could not “eliminate” Kem Sokha, president of the outlawed main opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), by political or judicial means, “Hun Sen will be tempted to have Kem Sokha killed and to call it an accident,” Rainsy alleged in a statement.

“The world will hold [Hun Sen] responsible should an ‘accident’ befall Kem Sokha,” he added.
