In the most vicious assault on the opposition party in more than a year, the ruling coalition partners Wednesday night accused Sam Rainsy of fostering a “revolutionary spirit” among the masses and plotting to destroy the government by economic collapse.
Separate statements from the dominant Cambodian People’s Party and their junior partner Funcinpec were broadcast nationally on radio and television in response to the opposition party’s new year message, which called on Cambodians to scrap fatalist philosophy and demand more from their government of “criminals, crooks and clowns.”
